History
On January 22, 1947, the first commercial TV station west of the
Mississippi River, KTLA, began operating in Hollywood. In
December of that year, the first Hollywood movie production was
made for TV, The Public Prosecutor. In addition, in the 1950s,
music recording studios and offices began moving into Hollywood.
Other businesses, however, continued to migrate to different
parts of Los Angeles, primarily to Burbank, California. A lot of
the movie industry remained in the area, although ...

Hollywood! For so many years the very word has evoked romance,
glamour, and a place where dreams can come wildly true... the
American dream, anyone's dream.
Hollywood has had an ever-changing history. Ironically, it was
named by a couple of conservative prohibitionists in the 1880s.
Harvey Wilcox, from Kansas, was selling lots to Midwesterners
with the idea that they could winter in California. His wife met
a woman on a train who had a home called Hollywood, and Mrs.
Wilcox liked the name so ...

Jesus still walks among men and women. And He wants to walk with
you.
The name of Jesus is still all powerful. Jesus'there is no other
name greater.
Are you aware that you serve a living Savior and not a book,
doctrine, rule, or a creed. Since the movie, The Passion of the
Christ, I've become even more aware of the power behind the
story of Jesus' suffering. Not long after the showing of the
movie in ...

After years of watching TV shows and movies, I think I have
finally gotten a grasp on Hollywood's theology and it's not a
pretty picture (pun intended). It should come as no surprise to
anyone that Hollywood's theology is vastly different from that
of the average American. After all, Hollywood's morals and
values are not representative of Middle America, so why should
its theology be any different? Hollywood's theology is comprised
of three basic tenets. First, it is quite obvious that ...

There is no question that people in America love dogs. One look
at popular culture in our country will prove beyond a shadow of
a doubt that Americans have a love affair with dogs. Movies and
TV shows about dogs go in and out of popularity and stories like
Old Yeller and Where the Red Fern Grows are considered timeless
classics. Only in America, however, do dogs manage to achieve
celebrity status.
Rin Tin Tin
Rin Tin Tin was Hollywood's first recognizable canine star. The
German Shepherd was ...

Sometimes it's hard to imagine that the stars who shine so
brightly on cinematic screens are people just like the rest of
us. We often think that their lives are so much more interesting
and exciting than our own and that we have little or nothing in
common with the Hollywood crowd.
Well, it may surprise you to know that at least some of today's
hottest stars enjoy perfectly normal leisure activities that we
might acquaint more readily with something your grandmother
enjoys doing.
I'm talking ...
